to learn about Brad Davis, Monaca's Favorite Son.
Beaver County, Pennsylvania followed Brad Davis's NBA playing career and knows him today as a gentleman who enjoys helping athletes to succeed. Brad Davis, born in Rochester, Pennsylvania, is a favorite of Beaver County and a favorite of basketball fans in Dallas. Dallas Maverick Legend, Brad Davis, was the first of only two Mavericks to have his number retired. He is now a Player Development Coach with the Dallas Mavericks where he spent 12 years of his NBA playing career. After attending the University of Maryland, College Park, Brad became a professional basketball player. He began his career as a first-round pick (15th overall) of the 1977 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. In 1980, Brad was picked up by the expansion Mavericks, where he has since spent his career to date. A 6-3 guard, he holds the Mavericks' record for most consecutive three-pointers without a miss. Brad won five straight Favorite Maverick Awards from 1982-86. He is the Mavericks' all-time leader in games played at 883. Brad is one of only 15 players in NBA history to play 15 NBA seasons. (961 games) In April 1992, Brad retired as a player. That same year, on November 14, Brad Davis became the first Maverick to have his jersey retired when his #15 was raised to the rafters of Reunion Arena.
After retiring from playing, he signed on as an assistant coach for Dallas and has since continued to contribute to the team's success.

Brad Davis retired as an NBA player in 1992, he has
committed his time to helping young athletes.

addition to developing players for the Dallas Mavericks, he
has traveled each summer from his home in Texas to his
birthplace in Beaver County to host the Brad Davis Open at
Fox Run.

hole-in-one prizes. Each player was given a hat, a Dallas Mavericks calendar, and time to visit with Brad. |
